Anak Tukang Becak Berhasil Meraih Gelar Dokter di UGM

Dengan penghasilan yang serba pas-pasan, yakni Rp20 ribu-Rp30 ribu per hari, Suyatno sukses mengantarkan anaknya, Agung Bhaktiyar menjadi dokter. Dari empat orang anaknya hanya Agung, si anak bungsu, yang mengenyam pendidikan di perguruan tinggi.

Berdasarkan pengalaman dan perjuangannya tersebut, Suyatno diundang sebagai tamu spesial dalam pertemuan dengan orangtua para mahasiswa baru UGM tahun ajaran 2011/2012.

Dalam kesempatan tersebut, Suyatno menuturkan, Agung tidak pernah memberitahukan bahwa dia mendaftar tes masuk UGM pada 2005 silam. Namun, ketika dinyatakan lolos dan diterima di UGM, dia pun memberitahu kedua orangtuanya.

Suami dari Saniyem ini mengaku, sempat merasa kaget dan terdiam atas prestasi yang diraih anaknya. Akhirnya, dia pun hanya mengiyakan akan mendukung keinginan anaknya tersebut. Meski dia masih merasa ragu akan kemampuannya untuk menguliahkan anaknya hingga selesai.

"Bapak akan berusaha sampai kamu selesai kuliah, nak," ujarnya kala itu guna membesarkan hati sang anak. Demikian dilansir dari situs UGM, Sabtu (10/9/2011).

Menurut Suyatno, Agung sangat mengerti dengan kondisi ekonomi keluarganya sehingga tidak pernah memaksa kedua orangtuanya memenuhi keinginannya. "Saya membiasakan anak-anak untuk hidup sederhana, bahkan baju seragam dan sepatu sekolahnya juga serba bekas," kata pria yang menetap di Terban, Yogyakarta tersebut.

Meski hanya seorang tamatan sekolah rakyat, Suyatno selalu berharap dan berdoa agar anak-anaknya selalu bernasib lebih baik darinya. "Dulu, saya berangan-angan agar paling tidak mereka bisa melebihi saya," tuturnya.

Selama perjalanan perkuliahan Agung, Suyatno tidak dipusingkan dengan biaya kuliah selama enam tahun untuk menjadi seorang dokter. Pasalnya, mahasiswa yang dilantik pada pertengahan 2011 lalu, mendapat bantuan beasiswa dari UGM. "Tapi kalau untuk fotokopi dan uang saku, dia (Agung) tetap minta ke saya. Kalau tidak ada, tetap apa adanya saja," katanya menambahkan.

Kisah Suyatno dan Agung ini berhasil menggugah hati sebanyak 3.717 orangtua mahasiswa baru yang hadir di acara tersebut. Jadi, siapa bilang hanya orang berduit saja yang ampu menyekolahkan anaknya hingga menjadi dokter?
